Value-based Health Care: Innovation in Healthcare Processes

Vision - Value-Based Health Care

Our vision is to redesign and optimize the healthcare pathway by using Value-Based Health Care (VBHC).

Our focus is on the care of patients with stroke, particularly in terms of care processes centred around the comprehensive post-stroke services assessment in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The project will support underlying ongoing planning and decision-making that will ultimately identify delivery models for systems and processes to improve the quality of care for patients with stroke.

Clinical Directors in Eastern Heath involved in all parts of the stroke pathway of care have been engaged, support this work, and are collaborating to facilitate access to people and information that will inform the Stroke Map.

Step 1

Establish the design requirements of the system by innovative engineering techniques and data-driven solutions.

Step 2

Utilize data science and reinforcement learning algorithms to find optimal pathways through the complex healthcare system.
